EOS Rebel T2i directly connected to a PC running Windows XP. The PC shows it is connected to the camera as well as our network drive. The preferences are set to download each picture taken to the network drive. This has been the case for a couple of years and it works just fine. Now out of the blue it stopped working. There is a message "No more shot is available". If we change the setting to putting the image on the desktop then it works fine. The network drive has 30TB free space so it is nowhere near being full. We have tried going to other network drives but get the same result.

I also think you need to look at what may have changed on your system. As I do not believe this is a EOS Utility issue either.

One solution would be to use Lightroom to import your images... It can put the image into both a folder on your computer and copy it into a backup such as a network drive automatically.
The problem is, I don't think the more recent versions of Lightroom will work with an XP operating system.
There are undoubtedly some other applets that can download the images and put them where you want them, besides EOS Utilities and Lightroom. Those are just the ones I'm most familiar with. The biggest issue is probably going to be finding XP compatible s'wares.

I'm having the same problem, but with the 5D mk II (though there was no related topic in that section). At first the mapped network drive showed 9999 available shots and over time decreased despite removing images from that folder regularly. The folder also has ample storage so there should be no reason the counter should go down. I tried creating a different folder on the server to map to, mapping the folder under a different drive letter and a combination of both after various restarts. Will try to reformat the camera next.
No changes were made to either the camera nor the mapped network folder other than rearranging folders within it for organization purposes.

I have the same problem with a 6D. Tried EOS 3 and it still will not work with a network drive. Tried this on 3 different PC's and none worked with anything other than C or a USB drive.

I'm having this issue as well. I've been using EOS Utility for over a year with it saving to a network drive. I haven't updated anything on my computer.
It started out saying 9999 and now it's down to 0 and says "No more shot is available."
Why would it suddenly stop allowing me to save to my network drive? Thanks.

Canon answered the question in the second reply to this thread. They killed the ability to save to network drive; why? who knows, but it doesn't work. Inane. I'm guessing security issues with communication protocols, but I know nothing about that stuff. What a shame. I think going forward I'll stop installing "helpful" 3rd party software because so often it goes out the window with the next upgrade of anything.

This is an older thread. Get Microsoft's SyncToy application.
I am not in the habit of removing the memory card because I like the way I can use [EOS Utility] to automatically rename files as they are downloaded. I can also easily assign a destination folder. This makes it easy when using multiple cameras, and reduces the chances of overwriting files with similar names, likw "IMG_0001".
I typically download to a USB hard drive. I then use Microsoft's SyncToy tool to copy and backup the downloaded files to network locations. Once the files are saved to network folders and backed up, do I begin edits and batch conversions.

Resurrecting this old thread because it might help others experiencing the same problem in the future. We encountered the same issue today: saving pictures from the camera to a network drive. This has worked flawlessly for years but suddenly stopped with the error message 'No more shot is available.' This occurred using Canon EOS Utility 3 on a Mac, but I believe the root cause is the same: the utility calculates the number of images that can be saved on a drive based on the free space divided by the file size per image. I suspect a bug in this calculation, specifically that it was never designed to handle free space values larger than gigabytes. When the free space is in terabytes, the calculation overflows or behaves incorrectly. This causes random results, such as reporting a positive number when there are (for example) 21 TB free, but a negative or zero number when there are (for example) 20 TB free, which triggers the 'No more shot is available' message.
Therefore, there is no real solution except saving to a different (network) drive with gigabytes of free space instead of terabytes, or experimenting by adjusting the free space on your server (by filling up or emptying) until the utility starts working again.
