Im having an issue with me 2000D where it on occassions wont stop autofocusing, even when im not holding the shutter. when it does this the focusing area remains green and will not refocus without me restarting the camera. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What are you focusing on? is there some contrast in the box?

Its a stationary picture of a car but it only seems to happen occasionally

Are you using One shot? Best bet may be to reset your camera to default. You may have set something by mistake.
Things that will hurt AF are too close, too dark, not enough contrast. If you go outside on a nice day and focus on a subject with vertical lines, tree, fence, building, etc, in it and the AF works as it should, there isn't anything wrong with the AF. Reset the camera anyway.

What is the model number of the lens that are you using? It sounds like you could be inside of the MFD, minimum focus distance.
