Rattling RF lens

Hi, I have a the Canon RF 100-400 is usm lens which is noisy when slightly shaken when off camera and held vertical, i can see the inner lens components moving around, when connected to the camera and switched on the inner components do in fact "energise" and become centre, however when the camera is switched off the inner components "fall" to the side of the main lens body and "rattle" when slight movement is applied. Surely this cannot be right and will eventually damage the lens?? Does anyone else have a similar issue the this model of lens or is my lens faulty??

The lens uses floating elements which is normal and you may also be hearing the IS elements too.

Many thanks for your speedy response, whilst non of my other canon IS lenses have the same issue, your reply seems to answer the question, Cheers.
