RF 70-200 2.8 FTM (full-time manual) focus does not work

R5 is at firmware 1.3.1, AF operation is "SERVO AF". Lens is at firmware 1.1.0,  set to AF, full AF range and stabilizer on.

When I half-press the sutter, the autofocus enganges, but the focus ring does not have an effect (as I expect it should for FTM). The focus ring also does not work after releasing the shutter button - but when I turn off AF on the lens, the AF rings works.

To answer my own question:

The 1.3.1 firmware release notes state:

4. Adds [Electronic full-time MF] to the AF tab of the menu. When a lens is attached, manual focus adjustment is always possible with both One-shot AF and Servo AF.

With [Electronic full-time MF] set to ON, the focus ring works as expected in th One-shot AF and Servo AF modes

Phew - glad the lens is not broken 😜
