I have a 400mm L IS and today it started to make a much louder noise during the image stabelization. Is this a sign that it is not working porperly or in need of repair. Has anyone else experienced this before?
Thanks
Steve

Did it not previously make that much noise? Is it like a "whirring" sound? The 70-200 f/4 is markedly louder than others and has a reputation for being loud. I don't know about the 400mm, it could be a louder performer as well. However, if it's suddenly making noise that it hasn't previously, assuming you've owned the lens for awhile, then I'd probably have it looked at. At least call up Canon.

Did you end up dealing with the IS noise? I was curious, I too have a lens that I swear makes more noise than it used to (change occured over a short period of time). Just wondering what has become of your search for answers.
