If a T5 could use it, the EF to RF adapter should work, but you will need to set the "Shoot without lens" option.

So I need an adapter?

Yes, all EF/EF-S lenses need an adapter to attach to an R camera. I suggest the Canon EF to RF adapter. I would have thought you knew that the lenses for the T5 did not work on the R7 without the same adapter.

I did not have a T5 and the R7 is my first canon. Someone I know has a T5 and some lenses that she gave me.

Unless you have a specific need for that specific lens I would not waste the money on the Canon ef to rf adapter. Now of course if you have other ef lenses it might be worthwhile but not for simply that lens alone. It isn't a very good lens and extremely limited in usefulness.

Which is kind of the whole point with a lensbaby!

Everyone is different and how they feel about what is useful.
