I have decided to buy this lens. I been looking at it for years and the price has been out of my reach, until now. With nearly everyone dumping their EF lenses and cameras I have been able to buy much of what I desire at a lower price for nearly unused equipment. .
The EF 50mm f/1.2 L USM is now below $800 for a 'like new' copy with both caps, lens hood, lens case and OEM consumer packaging.
Before I snapped the shutter button on the purchase I called Canon Professional Service to find out when the end of service life is on this lens.
I was informed it is 2031. Seven more years of service will be provided for this lens. That was the tipping point.
The lens should arrive by the end of the week.

But before you do this a difficult lens to master. It has a learning curve to get the best results with it. I love mine as I do my 85mm f1.2L (even more difficult) but neither of these lenses is for everybody. Most will be much happier with the f1.8 model.
