I just recently purchased the 80-200 f/2.8 L "magic drainpipe". Love it so far, the only problem is the filter ring has a dent in it and it's really hard to get filters on, sometimes even a lens cap seems to get stuck. Does anyone know the specific part number and if that ring can be replaced? I've tried scouring the web but most searches just give me exploded diagrams with no part numbers or it shows the rubber rings for the focus and zoom.

Any part can be replaced. Finding the part may be a problem. Depending on how "bent" the ring is you may be able to gently bend back into shape I have done that several times.

Greetings,
Since this lens was released in 1989, you're not going to be able to call the canon parts department. Your options are pretty limited due to age so, eBay and uscamera dot com might be possibilities.
