Decent 3-party EF-S zooms for APS-C Canon R..

Are there any decent and legendary low/midpriced EF-S zooms from Sigma and Tamron, which both provide good IQ and can resolve demanding R7 sensor?

I mean, like Canon's 15-85mm, 55-250 IS STM, 18-135 USM.

Looking for models to update my used market radar 🙂

I'd stick with Canon where possible, but the 6 new lenses licensed by Canon and offered by Sigma are sure to be nice if you have a need.  However, they are not in the FLs you mentioned above.  Canon will likely announce a RF 20mm VCM next week.  You will also see the R50 V and likely an RF-S 15-30.  Unconfirmed.  The Powershot V1 is coming too.  I don't follow Tamron personally.

That is a subject question as what you consider decent and what I consider decent maybe and probably is different, much different.

Both Sigma and Tamron make zoom lenses that are in a similar category as these Canon lenses. However, IMHO, I consider none of them "legendary". Most people get stuck on one spec of a lens and that is IQ. But a lens is a sum of its parts and not that one thing. Example the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Canon may well be the best in it class zoom lens made, period. Does that mean it is legendary? You decide.

Sigma has produced some excellent glass over the years, I own several of the EF mount lenses that produce beautiful images on my DSLR bodies and now on my MILC with the EF-RF adapter. I will replace my EF 18-300mm with the new RF 16-300mm when it hits the market. It will be a perfect travel lens on my R50.

Sigma has in the past produced an excellent series of lenses in the EF mount, both contemporary and art. Many have been and continue to be used by industry professionals. Do the research and you will understand the quality Sigma produces.

Quality depends on the specific lens, your needs, and your budget, but Sigma lenses often offer excellent image quality at a reduced expense over their Canon counterparts.

In Sigma's recent collaboration with Canon on APS-C lenses you can expect that the same high quality (or better) standards from Sigma on this new line of lenses. Additionally, these lenses are priced at a level that most can afford and an appreciation for Sigma's high standards for quality and craftsmanship.

Don't get me wrong, I own a bunch of Canon glass but some folks are simply brand loyal regardless of Sigma quality. Others... many in the industry will tell you that the Sigma glass produces great results at a much reduced expense.

My intention to those that are brand loyal is not to be disrespectful but to answer the OP's inquiry based on first hand experience and industry information/reviews.

Sorry I can't offer much on Tamron as I haven't purchased enough of their glass to have an opinion.
