Hi mawmaw12,
Based on your description of the issue, it would appear as though the encoder/timing strip in your PIXMA MG6620 is dirty or smudged and would need to be cleaned. To clean the encoder/timing strip, please follow the steps outlined in the following Knowledgebase Article available from Canon's web site:
https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART163676
After cleaning, please attempt to print again. If the issue, persists, please attempt cleaning the encoder/timing strip again.

Hi mawmaw12,
Please try cleaning the encoder again. After that has been performed, please perform a printhead deep cleaning:
1. Swipe the home screen of your MG6620 and tap the wrench and screwdriver icon.
2. Tap Maintenance.
3. Tap Deep Cleaning and then Yes.
Once 2 cleanings have been performed, please attempt to print.
If there is no change, your MG6620 would require service.
