I had to go out of my way to register and to tell those out there about the Canon G7020! I was exited to receive and setup my new Canon G7020! After being a loyal customer for years of various Canon printers, I was extremely disappointed with the cheap and very sad way they " Canon ", made this printer! Cheap thin plastic shell, feels so fragile, the most and worst little display out there on the market! I need to have a flashlight near to read the display! Extremely dark and small. The paper jams are also the worst problems, and after just turning on ,takes forever to cycle ! Extremely disappointed! I threw it in the trash! I have pictures of it in trash can!! I will go back to my trusty Canon Pixma mx890! Great screen! Never jams ! I should have saved my money and never come across the G7000! Really a bad design! Going back to cartridges is fine , I don't mine it! Very poor decision on my part to stray!
Solved! Go to Solution.

While you may be able to find ink for the older unit, since it was retired in 2018, it is no longer eligible for support from our team here at Canon USA. No updated software or drivers will be created for it either. If you were to upgrade your computer's operating system, and it cannot communicate with the printer due to changes in the way operating systems and external devices interact, your older printer would no longer be compatible with the newer computer (as is the case with Windows 11 and macOS Sequoia).

Hello, still there is no excuse for the poor quality and sad design on the G7020! The screen should have stayed color and lit up! Using a flashlight to read the screen??? Really? The paper jams were atrocious! Yes frustrated, I was, you would too! Trying to simply print business lertter! Still contacting you for advice? No poor design!

Different configurations are available to meet various needs and budgets. A unit with a lighted LCD panel is more expensive to manufacture, which increases the suggested retail price. You can see all of our current MegaTank models HERE.

These printers are going for over $225! No thank you , I rather keep my older Pixma 890! It’s very well designed! The team that thought these older models , should be immortalized on the Canon wall of fame!

Yes, I understand that part but, still my printer is still working fine! I reinstalled the drivers on my iMac ! It's up and running on Sequoia!

I have the G7020 and its worked great! The issue I have most of the time is with the SCANNER! Can't scan from the pushing the button on the panel - only from the computer scan icon. Half the time it does not work properly, I have to unplug the power, unplug the network, push the on button 5x, and do this like 10x and it will finally pick up the doc. Then it won't show on the screen, have to press scan again - then the VIEW of it pops up. Very frustrating in that respect as I have to do this all the freaking time. But otherwise, it feeds for the most part (actually it didn't feed so good today when trying to scan) - put prints good! LOL I got this printer in Sept 2024 and print often and the inks are not even half empty - so this is great! No more changing the cartridges, just have to fill them up when one gets low - but haven't had to even do that yet - since SEPT 2024 - pretty amazing!

I finally had it with the g7020! I had it for like 3 months! Who ever had the idea of charging people $330 for a cheap printer , made with brittle plastic, super crappy black and white display and paper jams! Should be horse whipped! They ruined Canons fine name! I went back to my older printer Pixma mx890! Made strong and color display! No more flash light to read it! Shame on Canon for putting people through , their penny pinching merchandise!
