Scanning Problems?

I use canon e500 printer. when i try to scan using auto scan in my desktop. it says: cannot scan for these reasons 1.) scanner is turned off 2.) USB cable is disconnected Code: 5,156,61. I checked my USB cable and it is connected. I try to restart my pc but problem still persist. please help, its important matter
