Refill ink cartridge 240 for MX452

I have a Canon MX452 all in one printer.  I had the black ink cartridge refilled.  The printer will not recognize that it is refilled and tells me I am so low on ink that it will not print.  The refill cartridge is full.  How do I get past this?

Its probably a faulty print cartridge and the sensor cannot pick it up correctly.

thanks...I went back to the folks that refilled it and they said the cartridge was fine but that a refilled 240 cartridge is not recognized by the printer unless you can get the printer software to accept it and that he believes there is a way to do that...he didn't know what it was.  (His answer was not monetarily motivated since he offered to refund what he had charged me.)
