Pixma will not print alignment head page

Canon Pixma MG3650  running on Windows10

Printing fine until Installed new cartridges, successfully detected. 

Then prints blurry and smudged, both in B&W and colour. 

Go to align printhead function, attempt to print test page. 

Will not print it, gets stuck part way, error code 5100 says there is an obstruction in the printer, which there is not. 

Will still then print a normal page, albeit blurred as before. 

Any suggesttions as to how to fix this, please?
