Rafiki
Apprentice

Hi,

my printer will not read the ink level of a freshly replaced CYAN cartridge.

How can I reset the firmware? I have already tried many ideas I have come across.

Thanks for any help

Rafiki

Hi Rafki,

Are you using a new, genuine Canon cyan ink tank?  If you are not, it is recommended that a new Canon ink tank (and not refilled) is used in your PIXMA TS9120.

Obviously there is a mismatch between the printer firmware and a third party ink tank.

Is there a solution or are we at the mercy of the printer manufacturers?

It has to be possible for the consumer to choose what products to buy.

Thanks for your info.

Hi Rafiki.

Canon genuine ink tanks are not designed to be refilled. If the inks have been remanufactured, then they have been modified to allow it to continue functioning.  It's the responsibility of the ink's (re)manufacturer to ensure the inks are properly functional.

Canon USA supports our customer's right to choose whether to buy our ink, or from another manufacturer.  We also do not recommend the use of inks manufactured by third parties in Canon printers.

Canon genuine inks are formulated specifically for use in our ultra-precise print head. Our print head and inks work together as a precisely engineered system to support optimum image quality, print speed and reliability in higher resolution text and color printing applications.

Canon supplies and accessories can be purchased online at http://shop.usa.canon.com/, or by calling 1-800-385-2155 to speak to a Canon Direct Representative.

Should you decide to use inks manufactured by third parties in your Canon printer, and such inks cause damage to your product, this damage will not be covered under the product's limited warranty. Any repairs required as a result of such damage must be made at your expense.
