PIXMA TS6420 - Randomly Prints Lines Of Faint And Broken Text

Getting some strange results recently from my Canon TS6400 combo printer scanner. Printed text documents randomly have broken and/or lightly printed areas horizontally in the text. Using only genuine Canon 260XL and 261XL cartridges. Printing a single sided 3 page document generated in LibreOffice Writer. Sometimes the distorted printing appears across the upper part of the page; other times it may show up in the middle or lower area.

Four or five lines of text are still partly visible, though they look like they're getting maybe half of the ink that they would normally use. Sometime it will print a page flawlessly.

This seems to happen with the printer's drivers set for black and white or color printing. And this issue has started after I replaced the black 260XL cartridge. Printed the Canon test page and everything looks fine. I doubt that LibreOffice Writer would cause this issue so randomly. Maybe the new black Canon ink cartridge I just installed is a bit wonky?

Don't see  where or how Tiffany edited my post. But my thread title should read "TS6400" instead of TS6420.

Opened my LibreOffice text document with Windows WordPad to try printing another copy. Still seeing the same results with faint and broken text horizontally in certain areas of the page. Will next try printing from Notepad and see what kind of results I get.

I'M A KNUCKLEHEAD!

Pay me no mind. I thought I'd recently replaced the black ink cartridge, but apparently I changed out the 261XL color cartridge. It took me awhile to find out how to check my ink levels. But when I did the problem was staring me right in the face. 😒 I think I heard my printer chuckling a little behind my back, and I deserved it.

Popped in a new black ink tank and prepping to run another test copy. If that don't fix it I'll be back shortly! 😋
