I have spent most of the afternoon trying to get my 2017 HP Envy laptop (Windows 10) to recognize the brand new Canon TR4722 printer I just bought off the shelf at Walmart. I've gone through the set-up process several times. Neither the USB connection nor the Wi-Fi connection will work. I think the issue maybe the registration process only goes so far and stops. I am dead in the water. I just bought a boat anchor!

Greetings,
Can you please tell us what set up steps you performed. What software you tried to use. Did you receive any error messages?
This is probably the easiest method for set up:
Canon : Official | ij.start.canon/connect | TR4722
Note the printer supports 2.4Ghz and WPA2 encryption. If you are using wireless, please make sure your network meets these requirements.
Canon Support is also an option. Start by registering the device in your MyCanon account. Then contact support at 1-800-652-2666

Actually, I've been using that Canon installation pathway and link you provided countless times all afternoon. It gets through the driver download stage and when it gets to the product registration page, the little green bar slowly moves all across the screen, left to right, but, when it gets to ab ngout an eighth of an inch from the end on the right, it stops and goes nowhere. I even tried removing my anti-virus program thinking that was hanging it up. Even though the system says there is no driver available, I was still able to scan a document. Go figure. This thing is an absolute nighmare!

My original post contained my operating system in parentheses but for the record, it's Windows 10 64 bit, and no, there are no warning messages, the registration process just stops at the far right end, with no resolution, even though the Wi-Fi connection phase and driver download phase went through just fine, but, when you look at the systems, the Canon printer is listed at the bottom as having no driver available.

Greetings,
Copying a document does not require connectivity to a PC or mobile device. I was aware you are using the printer with Windows 10 OS.
If you are able to Initiate scanning from your PC it must be connected to your network.
Let's confirm that. Log into your router and look at the list of attached devices. Does the printer appear there? What is the IP address assigned to it by the router?
Please clarify this statement:
"but, when you look at the systems, the Canon printer is listed at the bottom as having no driver available."
Where is this displaying?
It seems like you have everything connected, but the printer does not have the driver it needs. By installing the driver manually, you can specify what driver it uses on its properties menu. Here is an example.
I'm not clear at this point why you are having such difficulty installing the printer. It appears to be something in your environment. There are several options, none of which seem to be working for you. I recommend going the manual route since normal set up is not working.
Connect the printer to your wireless network manually.
Verify the IP assigned by the router. I suggest your reserve or assign this as a static IP on your network. This ensures persistent and reliable connectivity.
I would then install the printer as an IP printer. If you are unsure how to do this, please ask.
Windows 10 & 11 look slightly different but work the same way.
I understand you must be frustrated but there are millions of these printers in use and most were installed using standard IJ Set Up. Hoping some of what I posted above helps.
