MX490 Busy

We have an MX490 which has worked perfectly before, but not will not do anything, including copy. Our devices (a mix of os and connection types) all say that the printer is busy. The printer display panel is completely normal and appears to work, but sometimes I get the error "Cannot change setting" and any function that should print something does nothing.

 

I had tried resetting the printer every way I could find, but I feel that somehow a full reset would resolve this problem, but it may be a form of dead.

 

Any ideas?

Hi SlimJimPoisson,

 

With your PIXMA MX490 powered on, please disconnect the power cord.  If you have a USB cable connected, please disconnect that as well.  Leave the power cord disconnected for 5 minutes.  Reconnect the power cord and turn your PIXMA MX490 on.  Once on, please attempt to make a copy.  If the buttons still do not work, your PIXMA MX490 would require sevice.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
