Problems with EDC-1 Camera Backpack and Canon honoring the factory warranty

So I'm new here, and it's because I'm seemingly out of options in dealing with Canon.

I purchased a Canon EDC-1 Camera Backpack from B&H Photo for my upcoming new lenses. (I'd already upgraded my body to an R7 last year). Well I didn't time things up very well and my lenses didn't arrive until almost a month later, so the backpack sat there unused. I didn't think that would be a problem because it's a backpack, pretty simple. My old Canon Rebel camera bag has served me well for over 10 years with no problems at all

Well once I got the first new lens I started to setup the inside of the backpack and then added the next lens and started to use the backpack. That's when I noticed the main zipper refusing to close. It does this the majority of the time by far. It seems like the only answer I've found is to zip it extremely slow, but even that doesn't work every time.

So now I have a brand new backpack that's virtually useless and I'm well beyond the B&H Photo return window. I figured I'd reach out to Canon first since this obviously must be a manufacturing defect. I didn't see any other form of correspondence, so I called them. I explained the situation to the first guy and he told me that he didn't think they would be able to do anything since I didn't buy it directly from Canon, and that I should reach out to B&H.

B&H said it was a one year manufacturer's warranty and that I needed to contact Canon again because they should handle it. Welp, I called Canon again to let them know and got the same answer--that they could do nothing and I should talk to B&H again. So I went back to B&H and they said they could start an inquiry. I have emailed back and forth with them a couple of times, but it's come to an end as they said without a claim number or email correspondence there's nothing else they can do. I mean it's not really their problem, this seems to obviously fall to Canon as it is a manufacturer's warranty.

With all of that being said--does anybody know of any other ways to contact Canon for support on this? It's pretty ridiculous that it's come to this point, but not sure where to go next.

Hello, and welcome to the Canon Community!

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your EDC-1 backpack and to hear about the frustrating back-and-forth you've been going through. I will try my very best to get this sorted out for you.

I have some questions, so we're on the same page. I need you to please email me (do not share any personal information here) at  CUSA_Social@cusa.canon.comattention Stephen, with the following, please:
- You mentioned calling Canon. Can you tell me which number you called, and which team you spoke with (sales or support). I want to follow up with that group to ensure everyone is aligned with current procedures regarding accessory warranties.
- Have you registered your other camera gear? If so, I'll need to pull up your My Canon Account and verify your information. I'll need the account's email address, name, phone number, and physical shipping address (not P.O. box).
- If you haven't registered, that's fine.

My normal schedule is Sunday through Thursday from 8am to 4:30pm, Eastern Time.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Thank you for your help!

I'm currently out running errands but when I get home I will send you an email.

Did you get the email I sent on the 8th? Any updates?

Just wanted to check in. Again, thanks for your help.

Hey!

I was on the lookout for your email last week, and I didn't see it, so I assumed you hadn't sent it yet. As soon as I saw this, I checked the junk folder, and it was there, so I apologize for missing it. 😖

I have the email now, and on first glance, it looks like you've included everything I need in the email to do what I need to do.

My normal schedule is Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 430 p.m. Eastern. I'm usually swamped on Sundays and Mondays, so I likely won't be able to start my deep dive until Tuesday. If I need anything else from you (which I probably won't), I'll email you.

Just checking in again. Let me know if you need anything else from me. Thanks.

Hey! Still working on finding one for you! I replied to your email, too. I have all the info I need, thank you. 😊
