Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement battery for my Canon 50-D. Battery model number BP-511A. I have a battery that’s about four years old, but it does not charge anymore.

It appears that Canon no longer ships those batteries. Same for B&H Photo which is an authorized Canon dealer. B&H Photo does have though a Watson brand BP511-A battery. I know others on here have had success with that 3rd-party brand of batteries. Purchasing 3rd-party may be your only choice.

Thank you so much for the response, it’s very helpful. I saw similar batteries on Amazon, but was afraid of those batteries damaging my camera.

I would avoid purchasing from Amazon. Way too many counterfeit products.

I appreciate the advice, I will keep it in my mind.

Good morning.
I received the new battery, put it on the charger, but it did not charge. I am going to order a new charger, and see if that’s the problem. The charger does indicate that it’s charging the battery, but the red light does not turn green.

Watson and Wasabi, bought directly or from a reputable dealer, are tops in the aftermarket.
