Is there a way to to transfer video from the DV tape in the camcorder directly to the SD card also in the camcorder?

I have bought a new laptop with Win 10, as well as a Firewire to USB 3.0 adapter, since computers do not come with Firewire ports anymore.
However, the laptop does not reconize the ZR830 camcorder, only an "unknown device".
The Canon support page does not offer a driver, assuming it is already included in Windows.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi there,
The SD card on that camcorder can't have video footage transferred onto it from teh DV tape. The Firewire connection should show a live image in [Camera] mode and allow you to play back footage for live capture in [Play] mode, but this wouldn't perform like a USB storage device, it would require a video program with live capture capabilities in order to record the footage as data in your computer.
