What leads *you* to one vs the other? What are you looking for in a camera?

Do you have any other Canon cameras with existing lenses you would use?

If the R5 is in your budget I think most folks here will recommend that you get the mirrorless camera.

Well at least two of us will. I love the 90D it is the best DSLR crop series camera Canon ever made. May be the best crop camera ever made period. I could totally be happy with one but I am afraid the future going forward is mirrorless. Budget allowing that is where you want to head.

Love my 90D but the R5 at this time is the better option. I'm waiting for the rollout of the R5 MII (rumored June/July) to pick one up.

90D ~ 5D Mark IV ~ R6 Mark II ~ R50 and way to many EF lenses

I have an EOS 80D and bought an EOS R5. The EOS R5 has only a few less pixels on the bird in 1.6x crop mode and full frame works well for landscape or when one can get closer to wildlife. I use all of my EF and EF-S lenses on my EOS R5 and have not bought any RF lenses.

It seems to me that the eye focus and tracking on the EOS R5 works well for wildlife.

so are you using the crop feature all the time? what is the advantage of using crop vs the normal full frame

I use the crop when the wildlife is far away and I will crop later anyway.

The advantages to me are eye detection auto focus works better and smaller files.
