I am having problems scanning on my MG4250. I just get a msg processing please wait and then nothimg

I am having problems scanning on my MG4250. It gives the message Processing please wait momentarily and then nothing happens. I have scanned with the lid open and it seems the scanner does not move, however this works when you copy?
