Okay, you've convinced me. Maybe I should spring for a 1.4X III. BTW, thanks for the heads up one the snakes in Six Mile Cyprus Slough. You have an impressive set of shots. I have been staring at snow covered ground for a couple of weeks.

420mm, M mode with Auto ISO 1/640, f/8, ISO 6400 (+1 exposure in post processing)
This was really pushing the limits of the camera and lens. Deep into the 'golden hour' in the heart of an old growth cypress forest, which lead to some very low light conditions. Given the final 420mm I probably should have taken off the 1.4X III, but, I didn't so it is what it is. Photographer next to me was using a1DX Mk II a 600mm f/4L IS II with 1.4X III and a 1DX Mk II with EF 100-400 L IS II.
