MX492 Always Says Offline - connected directly to iMac USB

I have to go thru a ridiculous song & dance everytime I print, this has nothing to do with USB ports, so just skip that nonsense....I must disconnect USB cable, reconnect, try different USB ports...and if I do get a Doc printed I can try to print 2 minutes later and the same bunch of BS starts over again. The printer is connected directly to a USB on the back of my iMac. I've never dealt with this insanity before with any peripheral & I regret buying a 2-Year Replace Plan with this turd. I'd get a refund in a heartbeat if possible. thx, E

Hello.

Please try the following adjustment to see if we can resolve your issue:

 1.  Click the Apple and choose 'System Preferences'.

 2.  Open the 'Printers and Scanners' menu.

 3.  Highlight and delete any copies of the Canon Printer listed on the left by clicking the minus (-) sign.

 4.  Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.

 5.  Reconnect the USB cable to the printer.  A new copy of the printer should appear a few moments after.

The setup should be complete.  Try printing to test the connection with the printer.
