I know I have been influenced by Monet's beautiful renderings of park landscapes and bridges. His paintings come into my mind any time I compose a similar scene.

I often find that black and white photographs reveal details color hides. This Camelia was a dark pink and its neighbors were dark as well, unless they were faded and falling.

I really enjoy that first composition. Your model is lovely and her expression is captured so well. Have you considered a black and white version of the same portrait? perhaps with a red filter?
