CanoScan LiDE 500F with Windows 7 I know it's old but...

Like another user, I have my trusty 500F, and also I have a LiDE 20, but I am getting various incompatibility messages, not recognizing TWAIN and drivers not installing etc.

Is there really no way to keep using this scanner with Windows 7 64 bit ?

It seems such a waste of technology.

I know others have had this issue, did anyone find a way ?

Thanks

Hello Peter,

I can see your post is 10 months old, so by now you may have discovered ways to continue using your scanners, but if not, I can recommend a small business called Vuescan.  Check to see if they support your models.  I paid a one-off fee of $50AUD years ago when I got a new laptop and discovered to my dismay that my Canon N1220U no longer worked, nor did Canon provide drivers for it.  I simply downloaded Vuescan, and "hey presto!", it was once again up and running.  It was a godsend to not have to send it to the scrap heap!  It's still going strong, and I'm still using Windows 7.

All the best (from Australia),

Maree.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The CanoScane LiDE 500F is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

Hi Maree, thanks for this, I had found this solution and it worked perfectly !

I still am using the old scanner and the new driver is working perfectly.

I think Vuescan is doing a real service to reduce e waste.

Thanks again,

Peter
