Unable to download MP Navigator EX

ALL attempts to download MP Navigator EX  from the cannon help site fail. Download just does not start and attempts to pursue other download links end up with MS Chrome logo which then leads to Bing s/engine. I use firefox and avoid Chrome and Bing like the plague. To make matters worse the idiot robot on the chat site has not been told that  Cannon made the PRIXMA MG 8150 so says "not recognized Would you like to try again"  Not that I can think of any reason that an idiot robot would need to know what printer I have to solve a software download problem. If anybody has some words of wisdom about my problem i would be really pleased to hear them. Obviously robots need not reply. Thanks J.R

Maybe the chat robot wants the correct name. It is PIXMA 8150, not Prixma.

What does "MS Chrome logo" mean? Chrome is not an MS program. Is your default search engine in Firefox set to Google or Bing or something else??

Hi, JR!

Welcome to the Canon Community! We're so glad you're here. While this space is perfect for sharing and connecting, please keep in mind it’s not meant for urgent assistance.

I wanted to pop on here and offer up a couple of tips.

We're called Canon with a single letter "n" in the middle, not two.

As the other post mentioned, the printer is a "PIXMA." Your model is the MG8150, which our team doesn't sell or support here at Canon USA. The PIXMA MG8120 was sold in the USA but was retired in 2016, so it is no longer supported.

If you're outside the USA, click HERE to find the support you need in your country or region.

Sorry I did not make that clear. I use Firefox with Duck Duck Go as my search engine. The Chrome logo is displayed when i try to locate a possible alternative download button when the download fails to start using the displayed button, Exactly how that translated to a Bing search page I am unsure. The "prixma" was a typo on my part, but not relevant to the failure to start the requested download.  The crux of the matter is that MP navigator will not download and I have never had a download problem like this, and I do a lot of document downloads, But thanks for your response. I don't know if this thread is to old to be of value now. But I will try.!! I did resolve the original problem got MP navigator installed and working perfectly.  Now both my MG series printers have failed and have been scrapped.

It looks I have made a mistake by replacing them with another Canon PIXMA. A TR4551. with lessons learned I set about downloading the correct MP Navigator version for my windows OS and TR4551. But I seem to be confronted by the same problem as before, Will not download !

I downloaded the correct driver package and set about installing it because blurb said it contains MP scan utility. All went well until installer finished uninstalling outdated drivers ie for MG units. installer then decided it could not " communicate with printer" Previously I had printed several docs via wifi connection without any problems. At this point I decided to try a usb connection. but to no avail. It is also the point that I discovered this model has no LAN connection!. All that said there seems to be some serious glitch in the MP navigator download source. In my more than 40 years of using computers and printers I have learned that even the best of printers can be problematic. But downloading drivers and software in never normally a problem.   IF you have a real working customer support service you will be able to send me a link to download the "correct MP navigator utility" for the TR4551 running on win 7x32. I in the mean time will. look for a different printer. It won't be a Pixma!

Hi Scud,

I helped you yesterday with your printer request even though your product is not sold in the United States.  I am a volunteer but went out of my way to help you.  The majority of the users here are also volunteers.  We are fellow Canon users like yourself.  Canon has great support, but you do need to contact them in the country or region where you live. Why you would then threaten with looking for another brand printer also doesn't make sense because we have gone out of our way to try and help you.  One of your devices is more than 10 years old, It might be wise to consider replacing it.  After more than 10 years, you have certainly received a good return on your investment.  It is not possible for hardware manufacturers to provide forever support for hardware or operating systems.  Parts availability becomes an issue, and Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 over 5 years ago.  This needs to be considered outside of the help and assistance we have already graciously provided.  If you could please treat us with the same courtesy we extended to you, I'd appreciate it.
