TS6420A doesn't have a printer driver for Mac, but I don't want to use AirPrint. How can I do this?

I installed the TS6420A on my new Macbook Air, and it defaulted to AirPrint, which I can't stand. Half of the features I want to use aren't available, and it won't stop printing double-sided, not matter what I do. So I went to the Canon site to download a driver for my printer and this is the message that came up:

"There is no driver for the OS Version you selected. The driver may be included in your OS or you may not need a driver."

WHAT? Do I need to get rid of this printer and go with another brand, or is there a way to make this work? Very frustrating, Canon!

Thanks for any help with this.
