will Canon TR8620a connect to dual band wireless network. My pixma mx492 does connect.  I use the same ssid for both and the router decides which connection is better

Greetings,

The TR8620a can connect to a 2.4Ghz b/g/n wireless broadcast that uses WPS-2 encryption.  The "band steering" in some wireless routers doesn't always work as well as the manufacturer would like you to believe.  I have a tri-band router and use 3 uniquely named SSID's for this reason.  I control what connects to which broadcast.

Try connecting the printer.  If you run into any issues, you can temporarily disable the 5G broadcast and re-enable once the printer is connected.

Agreed with shadowsports. Printers largely connect wirelessly via the 2.4GHz. imageCLASS and imageRUNNER units don't utilize the 5GHz bands.
