MF8050CN not printing pdf with Windows 11

Tvelen

Hi,

I am experiencing program shutdown when trying to print pdf.  I can print Word, Excel, or non-pdf files.  When I open a pdf with Adobe Reader (free version) or any other program (Edge, Brave, Chrome...) it will read but soon as I print to my networked MF8050CN it just closes program and never prints.  I have other machines that use the printer on the network with no issue.  Looking for solution.  Adobe site has a few work arounds that I cannot find a resolution with things like print as image, changing security and document settings in EDIT>PREFERENCES section. Not sure what else, no live person will talk with me.

Greetings,

Is this a new issue?

Did the system ever print .PDFs successfully?

If yes, has something changed?

If the program is closing, have you reviewed the event logs for a possible cause?

This HP desktop was printing all files just fine. Kept up with any of the Windows 11 updates.  This started beginning of the week on Monday. Nothing visible to the user has changed.

As for a log that is not something I am unaware of how to access.  I go to print, the progress window blinks for a second or two and then the program shuts off.  I have tried in Adobe, Brave, Chrome, Edge with same results as a pdf.

Hello Tvelen,

In this situation, you can try downloading and installing the newest version of the  imageCLASS MF8050Cn MFDrivers from our Canon support site using the link provided HERE. The OS selection will say Windows 10 but it will work on Windows 11. Once the drivers have installed, you can try printing again to see if you still have the issue.

Hector,

These imageclass drivers are the same as before.  I have reinstalled and still no fix.  These drivers are from 2016 as new as I can see.  Nothing has been changed since last week when I could print pdf's now it does not want to print pdf's.  Word, Excel, and emails print fine.  This happened suddenly and is very disruptive to my part-time bookkeeper who is not computer savvy and in 1 day a week. Canon will not let me speak with a live human to solve this and I have to troll the community area to find out if their product work for me again or will this happen if I get another updated product like an HP or EPSON?

I'm in the same situation, I can't print any pdf document and also I can't print from autocad.

Everything worked fine with windows 10... I got problems with this printer since I installed windows 11, with 2 different workstations. I tried all versions of imageCLASS MF8050Cn MFDrivers.

Hector,

I see these two drivers for MF8050cn under OS Windows 10 (no drivers under OS Windows 11) one from 2016 and the other one from 2015:

File Name [Windows 32bit] imageCLASS MF8050Cn MFDrivers (UFR II / FAX / ScanGear) Date 10.28.16
File Name Service Pack for MF8050Cn/MF8350Cdn Printer Driver (32-bit & 64-bit) Date 12.01.15

Windows 11 has no 32-Bit OS version. The new operating system from Microsoft is the first one to not have a 32-bit version. So the driver from 2016 won't install. Your reply states "the OS selection will say Windows 10 but it will work on Windows 11". Your suggestion doesn't seem to work.

I cannot print on my MF8050cn from my new PC which came with Windows 11 pre-installed. It seems like the printer has been rendered useless at this point. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET MY WINDOWS 11 PC TO PRINT ON MY MF8050cn??

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The imageCLASS MF8050Cn is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

Greetings,

The first poster indicated an issue with one system, his other two were working.  Its safe to say the issue was with the computer in question and not with his printer (that he stated works fine elsewhere).

@lafleur,

In the future, we recommend starting your own thread.  This helps others find information and solutions more easily.

Printers and other peripherals don't always port over "cleanly" after an operating system upgrade.  This is especially true when major architectural changes occur.  I suggest that you remove the device from your system, uninstall any drivers/applications and restart your system.

Now perform a fresh install of the device under the new OS.  You will need to use the windows 10 driver since no W11 driver exists:

[Windows 32bit] imageCLASS MF8050Cn MFDrivers (UFR II / FAX / ScanGear)

See if this resolves the .pdf printing issue.

The Service Pack on the driver list for the MF8050 may fix your problem.

With my MF8350cdn I had the same problem with printing from my web browser. Printed fine from applications, just not from browsers. Installing a patch on the printer's driver list solved it. You may have a similar situation.
