Driver install for MX922 not doing anything.

I tried to reinstall drivers for my pixma MX922 (on my macbook pro with Monterey), and the installer runs (and says it installed), but the printer is still not showing up in Printers and Scanners control panel; or in the print dialog.

mcpd-mac-mx920-... is the package file I tried several times.

I'm just trying to print via USB, not wireless or network.  Anything else I can try?  Printer still works with my Imac.

Anyone have a solution to rpenner's issue? I have the very same problem on my iMac running OS 10.15. any help would be greatly appreciated since printing is no longer possible until this issue is remedied.
