You can use the GP-E2 in data logging mode and then use software to tag files with GPS data.

I think not.  It mounts on a flash shoe, which the G5X lacks.

I looks like you can tag files in a computer by creating logs, and the Map Utility application that comes with it.

I had previously used the GP-E2 on an SL1
The G5x does have a hot shoe
