Hello Members, I am new to the forum and would be very grateful for some help .
Back in January I bought a Canon G1X Mk II Compact Camera specifically for taking Star Shots . So far I am very pleased with the results I am getting in the pre-set Star Modes , especially the Star Nighscape .
I have recently been trying to take Star shots in Manual Mode in RAW format so I can edit the photos , however, I am getting great difficulty in Manually Focusing the Camera to get clear sharp shots , I have also tried Auto Focus and I can not get the same results as in the pre-set Star Modes .
Can any forum members explain to me how and why the Camera can produce Sharp and Clear photos in the pre-set Modes but not in Manual Mode ?
Are there any settings I have forgotten to adjust ?
Thanks for reading
Gary

I am guessing the star mode tells the lens to go to infinity, and that option is not availble to you otherwise.
You just have to set manual focus and do it carefully. live view and zoom might help.
