canon 70d is this a faulty sensor or something else?

What are we supposed to be looking for? I don't have very high expectations for DSLR video, so I don't know what you think is wrong.

Could be sensor, but could also be a board faulty or even a faulty memory card.

Try things in this order:

 

Reformat the memory card.

Perform master reset on the camera.

Replace the memory card.

 

If none of these work then it looks like a camera fault.

Definately not card, tried a few and also tried many different batteries. Also reset the camera and still the same.

Once you have done these.......

The only next suggestion is call Canon service.  BTW, it sure looks like a corrupt SD card.  I think the purchase of a brand new top brand SD card from a top retailer is a good idea.  No off brand and nobargin sellers.
