T8i Focus box missing in live view, manual focus mode

Good day all. I don't have a white focus box when my canon lenses are switched manual focus and I am in live view. When I press the + or - icons to zoom a box appears with a magnifying glass, then disappears and is replaced with a white box with another whit box in the center that I cannot reposition.  Is this a change with the T8i or problem with my camera. I am new to Canons but on videos I see others with the white focus box on other Canon cameras in manual focus mode.

Yeah, that’s how a DSLR is supposed to work.  When you switch the lens to MF, then the AF display in the OVF and LV displays go away.  Many video content creators take advantage that behavior to create “clean HDMI” video output.

Here is the link showing the video with the focus box in manual mode. Any suggestions on how best to focus in manual mode without the focus box?
