R6 mark ii: Viewfinder magnification with vintage lenses

I enjoy using manual focus vintage lenses on my EOS R6 mark ii - lenses that do not communicate at all with the body. I use focus peaking as well as viewfinder magnification (5x and 10x) to assist with manual focusing.

Is there any way of displaying the white magnification box when “un-magnified” so one knows where the magnification will end up?

This was by default the case on my previous EOS RP. If I remember correctly, one tap on the magnification button displayed the white box, another tap zoomed in to 5x and a third tap zoomed in to 10x. This was a very handy functionality but I have a hard time setting the R6 ii up in this way.

Hello egillt,

When you have the un-magnified view, try pressing the INFO button. This should bring up more details/information on the LCD screen with each press.
