Have I Fried my Hotshoe circuitry?

I saw a post on this forum replying to a question on A Vivitar flash and trigger voltage in respect to a T3i. I have just received for Christmas a Yongnuo yn560 ii for my T3i/600D and it's not working on the 600D but does work on my wife's Fuji HS20 EXR,, and on my stepson's T1i/500D. However, When I got my 600D I had (still do but don't use) a Luxon Flashgun (Think It's a 9800 A) from the 80's or 90's bought for the Fuji (which used to be my camera). I put it on the 600D to try it but it didn't flash at all, so it was put away. The Luxon also works on the HS20 and on the Pentax K-m (now sold) I had before I bought the 600D. After reading the replies on the Canon USA forum I wonder if I've fried the Hotshoe circuitry on the 600D. The built in flash works perfect, but the Yongnuo fires by itself and then freezes when placed on the 600D and won't work at all. Remove it and it unfreezes itself. Also if the Yongnuo touches any metal part of the hotshoe e.g. the top of the metal rail the flashgun slides into it fires itself. I'm stumped by this, and can only assume putting the Luxon on the 600D and pressing the shutter fried The pop up flash on the 600D is working perfectly. I've also read on another Canon forum about a T2i user getting a Yongnuo 560 ii this Christmas, and it doesn't work either. Maybe it's a compatibility issue with the 560 ii and the 18 Megapixel sensor models as my stepson's T1i has a 15 Mp one. Can anyone shed some light on this please? I'm waiting to see if I can find another flash to try on my camera. Regards, Colin.

Success!!!!! I noticed the flash, not the hotshoe, when fully tightened was a bit wobbly, I moved the flash a bit and was able to get it to power up on the hotshoe but it froze at the slightest movement. Here's the moment when I heartily recommend your local specialist camera store (and mine is Wilkinson Cameras). Who were able to put a TTL flash on the camera, a used Metz 36 AF-5, and bingo!!!!!!! I thought putting my old Luxon 9800A on the cam when I bought it might have fried the circuits, but I was wrong. £50.00 changed hands, and it looks like the Yongnuo is heading back to Amazon. I guess it must be a compatability issue with the 18.1 Mp Sensor bodies, as another person had a similar issue with a 550D/T2i this Christmas which AFAIK hasn't been resolved. The manageress of the shop, a lovely lady called Sara said it was most likely down to the newer bodies having more advanced flash circuitry/E-TTL. I wonder if any 7D users have had compatibility issues with the YN560 ii? Thank you for all your help. Regards, Col.
