EOS 1100D no access to memory card?

I just got a almost new  EOS 1100D camera and I'm new to this kind of photography.

I just emptied the old 4 GB memorycard, and reinserted in the camera, ready to start (I thought) and now it gives the next message: No acces to card, you need to format the card with this camera.

what to do?

Thanks, B

How did you "empty" the card?  To format a card with your camera, see pages 44 and 45 of the User Manual.

Hello Ricky, I did with a card reader on my computer, just select all and delete.

Thanks for your link to the user manual, I followed the page 44 .

my small 4GB card is now ready, and I wait until the bigger card comes in. Thanks, B

Does your computer have a card slot? I used a USB cable and card reader in the past. Found it was faster and more reliable by putting the card directly in the card slot.

No, it doesn't But I did manage to get this card up and running, and now it's time to experiment and learn. Thanks, B
