Canon eos m50 mark ii - pics get really dark

mb7
Apprentice

Hi!

I hope someone can help me. I have had a canon eos m50 mark ii for almost a year and a half and never had any problems, but suddenly my pictures became completely dark. If I'm going to take pictures indoors, I have to set the ISO to between 3000-4000 and the shutter speed to 1/8. This is even if the aperture is at 1.8. Don't quite understand what I'm doing wrong? Or is the camera broken? Can also add that it does this on the various lenses I have, so I suspect that there is something wrong with the camera. Have also tried resetting all settings, but the pictures still turn dark

Greetings mb7,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with your EOS M50 Mark II camera. Per your description, you have performed the troubleshooting steps that we would have suggested, like testing different lenses and resetting the camera. We would have suggested testing a different lens to see if it may have been an issue with a stuck aperture but this doesn't seem to be the issue.

I would recommend checking to see if there may be an ND filter attached to the front of the lenses you're using which would require for a change in the ISO and shutter speed to provide a proper exposure.

You may also send your camera to our facility for repair if the issue persists.

Canon U.S.A., Inc. has created a new online repair portal that allows you to set up service in a few simple steps. The portal also allows you to upload images or videos that will assist us in repairing your product. You can also select how you wish to be notified of the progress of your repair. The portal's service history section allows you to view all services that have been performed on any of your camera or video products since January 7, 2020.
