Cannot update 7D MKII firmware

Bought a used 7D MKII off Amazon and it came with firmware version 1.0.2 and needs to be updated.  Following the steps as prescribed in the v2.06 firmware update, after I found an ancient 2GB PNY CF card, no matter what I try I keep on getting "Update file cannot be found.  Please check the memory card." I'm extracting the zip to the root of the card directly. Ironically, when I place a W-E1 in the SD slot and try the same process, I get to "loading..." but after 15 minutes there's no activity.  Also tried a Sandisk Extreme Pro 128GB, which I think is too big. Ordered a 64GB Sandisk Extreme and will try that when it arrives.  Any other suggestions?

I believe you downloaded firmware for the EOS 7D not the EOS 7D MkII. There is no version 2.06 for the 7D MkII, but there is for the 7D. Also, format the SD card in the camera before copying the firmware file to it.
