EF 70-200mm f2.4 II IS slows down burst mode on EOS R6, okay on EOS R7

So I recently just got a Canon EF 70-200mm f2.4 II IS, to use with my canon r6 but when I use burst the burst is a lot slower than usually. So I put the lens on my r7 to see if it made a difference and the r7 burst is normal but not the r6. Does anyone know what is going on ?

This does seem strange as I have that lens and an EOS R6. With the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM fitted there is no difference in the high speed drive operation compared to using an RF lens. Make sure you have LP-E6NH batteries fitted and the icon on the LCD is showing H+ in green.

EOS R5 and EOS R6 both have some limitations at the high speed + drive mode with older EF lenses and there is a list in the manual on page 859 that shows the lenses compatible with 12fps. There it says the lens is compatible.

However I note you typed f2.4 is your lens the f/4 version, not the f/2.8 version? If so then the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM does not support high speed 12fps shooting, yet the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II USM does.

I'm not sure EXIF info will provide any insight into burst speed.

You’re correct.  That is why I asked the OP to tell us how to reproduce the issue.  We know nothing about AF settings, AF points, etc.  I figured we could start small and work up from there.

Can you provide the Full complete name of the lens in question. Canon hasn't released an EF 70-200mm f2.4 II IS lens. They've made F/2.8 & F/4 versions of lenses including IS and non-IS versions. The version 1 IS of the F/4 and the original non-IS versions DO NOT support 12 fps. The F/2.8 models the original non-IS and version 1 IS DO NOT support 12 fps. The newer variants of the F2.8 & F/4 lenses do.
