TS5151 Misses 1/2 inch of beginning or end of photograph

I installed my brand new Pixma TS5151. The colors it prints on glossy photopaper (HP everyday glossy) are brilliant!. But sometimes it doesn't print the last cm of a photograph Sometimes even at the beginning. And I don't know can cause this.

I printed from PNG files using the Canon Selphy app on Android.
Single document/photo option.

Borderless printing.
The glossy photopaper is HP A4 (21x29.7cm)
The PNG files had "blank/translucent areas. But even when the end of the photo did not have translucent part of yhe photograph still would be missing from the printed result. Sometimes it even 'cut off' the sides along the length of the document when printing. This is weird. Shouldn't the printer print everything regardless? Does the canon have some sort of autocropping feature?
Could it be the PNG causing this?
Photos all had a canvas of 2480x3508 pixels. 300dpi.

I tried a PNG using Canon high resolution paper (106 gr/m2) which is thinner. Document came out OK from beginning to end. Could it be that thick photopaper is causing this?

I am going to try the following experiments:

*Use thinner presentation paper rather than thicker glossy photopaper.
*Print from Jpeg rather than PNG.

Do Canon printers fit the picture along the longest side to the width of the paper. So maybe axcess pixels at the end don't get printed?

Any suggestions wpuld be nice!
