PIXMA MG7720 Does not Recognize Ink Cartridge - Error 1660

My PGBK (bigger black one) cartridge recently ran out of ink.  I have replaced the ink cartridge twice and it will not recognize a cartridge is installed.  No matter what I do I continue to get a 1660 Error  which  occurs when the printer cannot detect that an ink tank is installed.

If the error cannot be fixed can I replace the ink tank holder?

Hi,

Could you please reply with the information on the ink cartridge that is not being detected(ink number, where the cartridge was made, etc).

You can also try a reset of the printer. While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the printer. While the power is off, press the power button 5 times. After 60 seconds plug the power cord back in and power on the printer.

If the error wont clear, the print head is most likely gone bad and it would be more cost effective to replace the printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.
