PIXMA MG5520 Faded and Misaligned Black Ink

kstepanski

Hello,

I went to go print today and I get a very light faded black ink. I cleaned and deep cleaned the print head. I also did the nozzle pattern and it worked for the colors but did not give me the box on top that it is suppose to. (please see pictures for both printer outcomes). I even put in new ink cartridges for all the ink. I don't know what else to do to fix this issue. IMG_0664.jpegIMG_0663.jpeg

Hello,

I am using the PIXMA MG5520 printer. I cleaned the printer heads with a printer head cleaning solution which seemed to solve the problem, however, now my printer is printing weirdly (see picture for reference). I tried did the printer head cleaning through the printer and then checked the nozzle pattern (see picture to reference) as well as a deep clean again. I tried the alignment of the printer head too. Not sure what else to do or why it is printing off now. IMG_0696.jpg

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PIXMA MG5520 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

Hello Kstepanski,

The issue looks like a problem with the printer's horizontal encoder strip. You can try reloading the ink tanks and checking the inside left and right for any obstructions. If the inside is clear, it looks like the printer needs service. You can log into your MyCanon account to check your service options or contact chat support.
