Hello, my Canon scanner won't scan because there is a problem with the printer. However, I don't need the printer, I only need to scan. Could someone please tell me how to get the scanner to scan again, even though the built in printer has a problem of some kind? Thanks.
So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

Without knowing about your environment or printer "problem" I will offer this. In general, printing and scanning are tied together, meaning if you cannot print, you cannot scan in many cases. The type of problem or issue with the printer can determine this. All but a few scanning features also require the printer to be functional in order to complete. If you cannot print, there is a strong possibility you will not be able to scan as well.

Can somebody please tell me what I should do?
This expensive device by Canon has been designed NOT to work.
My one question: is there a way to disable the feature Canon installed that prevents its Pixma MG5300 scanner from working because the printer is not working?
Or should I throw it out?
That is all i want to know.
