PIXMA MG3620 Error 1401

BlueFrog
Apprentice

Had my printer for about a year, no problems. However, after the last time I changed the ink cartridges, I got a 1401 error, stating the printer cannot read the FINE cartridges. The new cartridges printed just fine a few times before this error. These are official Canon CL240 & CL241 ink cartridges. I have tried cleaning the contacts both on the cartridges and in the printer, tried swapping out the new cartridges for the old ones, but the error is the exact same.

I'm at a loss of what to do. I have tried resetting the printer by holding power & stop, then clicking the power 5 times, but the error is still the same.

Appreciate any help.

Hi,

You have performed the steps we would have recommended and since the issue is not resolved the printer would require service.

If the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.
