I'm here with a similar question, but more of an issue with one specific device as tol answer your question, yes, it is possible to do what you ask - although for myself, only from to one system (WinXP) but not another (Win8.1).
Ensure you have the 'Canon IJ Network Scan Utility' installed, which you'll find in the support / downloads section relevant to your printer model of the Canon website and also, the MP Navigator EX software.
