271 Combo Pack actually contained 281 cartridges

I bought a 271 combo pack installed it and error code flash up saying wrong cartridges installed. I took them out and put them back in. Same thing.  Upon fiurther inspection the actual cartridges in the package were not 271 but in fact 281. What do I do now? The box was completely sealed so it was not a return gone wrong. It must have been a manufacturing error. I am quite sure Staples will not return them. They have been removed from the plastic wrappers.  Any help would be appreciated. These ink cartridges are too expensive to just say no big deal.

My printer is the MG 7720.

Thanks for the info.  We can confirm that your printer is designed to use genuine Canon PGI-270 and CLI-271 ink cartridges, including both the regular version and XL version of each.  280-series ink cartridges won't fit.  If you haven't already done so, we recommend contacting Staples to see how they might be able to help.

Have a great day!

I did go back to Staples and they did help me out. As a side note we took another 271 combo pack off the shelf but I wanted to open it before I left the store and lo and behold this pack had 281's in it as well. There clearly was a packing error on Canon's part. Staples was able to refund my money so my matter is resolved but it is one that as a company you may want to look in to.

Canon brand ink or Staples brand ink?

It was Canon brand ink. I have never even ever seen a Staples brand.
