Vixia G50 resolution setting has two bitrates (35Mbps and 17Mbps)

Hi.  Can someone explain the difference between the two settings.  These appears to be independent of framerate.  The doc does not mention why these bitrates differ.   Perhaps it is progressive vs. interlaced?  Any insight appreciated.

Greetings,

G50 Recording Options

MP4
Video: MPEG-4 AVC/H.264
Audio: MPEG-2 AAC-LC (2ch)
Video configuration (resolution, bit rate, frame rate)
3840x2160: 150 Mbps (29.97P, 23.98P)
1920x1080: 35 Mbps, 17 Mbps (59.94P, 29.97P, 23.98P)
1280x720: 8 Mbps (59.94P)
Color sampling: YCbCr 4:2:0, 8 bit

The camera will record 1920x1080 at 60p, 30p or 24p framerates.

The level of detail captured is determined by the Bitrate.  Selecting 35 MBPS provides better detail at the expense of recording time.  17 MBPS captures less detail and provides longer recording times using the same media.

Note the G50 uses variable bit rate so even if you select 35 when filming HD video the bitrate could vary, but will be targeted at 35.
